Position: Senior Technical Writer
Location: Providence, RI
Duration: 1 Year plus
Job Summary
- Develop, improve, and maintain clear, accurate, and accessible technical documentation for IT operational, support, and knowledge management purposes.
- Create and update documentation such as knowledge base articles, technical procedures, operational runbooks, quick reference guides, and SOPs for IT Helpdesk, data center, and networking operations.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, and service owners to gather and validate complex technical information.
- Translate technical concepts into user-friendly, audience-appropriate content for both technical and non-technical users.
- Review, edit, and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of existing documentation.
- Organize documentation for logical structure, searchability, and efficient knowledge sharing to support onboarding and operational continuity.
- Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, naming conventions, and quality control practices.
- Manage the documentation lifecycle, including version control, periodic reviews, approvals, and retirement of outdated materials.
- Leverage documentation platforms, knowledge management systems, and collaboration tools; participate in version-control or review workflows.
- Apply strong interviewing, listening, editing, and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Option for remote work, with availability required for scheduled meetings with IT teams and SMEs.
- Senior-level experience in technical writing for IT operations, infrastructure, or service management environments preferred; higher education experience is a plus.
