BAR MANAGER REQUIREMENTS

Position: Bar Manager

Department: Food & Beverage Operations

Reports To: General Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all bar operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining profitability, leading and developing team members, and ensuring compliance with all alcohol service, safety, and company standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years of bartending experience.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid alcohol service certification as required by local regulations.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Basic computer and POS system proficiency.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

The Bar Manager must demonstrate knowledge of:

• Spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail preparation.
• Responsible alcohol service practices.
• Inventory management and ordering procedures.
• Beverage cost controls and profit margins.
• Labor scheduling and workforce management.
• Guest service and hospitality standards.
• Health and safety regulations.
• Company policies and operating procedures.

LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The Bar Manager must be able to:

• Lead by example during all shifts.
• Coach and develop bartenders and bar support staff.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings.
• Hold employees accountable to performance standards.
• Resolve employee conflicts professionally.
• Create a positive and productive work environment.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The Bar Manager must:

• Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed.
• Maintain bar cleanliness and organization.
• Monitor service speed and quality.
• Verify product quality standards.
• Manage guest flow and seating coordination when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with liquor laws and company standards.
• Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Bar Manager must:

• Manage beverage cost percentages.
• Monitor labor costs and scheduling efficiency.
• Conduct weekly inventory counts.
• Investigate inventory variances.
• Analyze sales trends and performance reports.
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.

ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

The Bar Manager must:

• Complete schedules on time.
• Maintain employee training records.
• Complete incident and disciplinary documentation.
• Submit inventory and ordering reports.
• Participate in management meetings.
• Track and report department KPIs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
