Job Description

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Kaleidoscope Rx | Vancouver, WA | In-Person | Exempt Full Time - 4 days per week

Part-time considered (minimum 3 days per week)

WHO WE ARE

Kaleidoscope Rx is a neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+-affirming outpatient psychiatric medication management clinic in Vancouver, WA. Founded by a PMHNP and an RN, we prioritize unconditional patient dignity and clinician support.

As a queer, neurodivergent-owned practice, our team's lived experience with ADHD and autism shapes our clinical approach. We believe in providing thoughtful, comprehensive care; our tagline, "Clear perspective is good medicine," reflects our commitment to our patients.

We serve patients ages 4 and up across Washington and Oregon—including adults, adolescents, and children—via in-person and telemedicine visits, focusing on complex, longitudinal care that values clinical skill and patient autonomy.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we strongly encourage applications from LGBTQIA+ individuals and underrepresented communities.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a PMHNP dedicated to intentional, collaborative practice. You approach complex cases with curiosity and view medication management as a partnership with the patient, their families, and their broader care teams.

Our practice is rooted in neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQIA+-affirming care, which we uphold as core values in every interaction. We prioritize thoughtful, whole-patient care and active coordination with outside treatment teams.

We serve patients starting at age 4 and require a commitment to delivering high-quality pediatric and adolescent care. We offer mentorship and support for clinicians dedicated to growing their skills in pediatric psychopharmacology.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evidence-based medication management for patients aged 4 and older, including those with complex medical histories.
  • Partner with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans that focus on achieving their unique personal goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and efficiently handle administrative tasks like patient messages and refill requests.
  • Collaborate actively with our leadership team and colleagues through regular case reviews and peer consultation.
  • Apply a neurodiversity-affirming approach as the standard foundation for all patient interactions and clinical decision-making.

WHAT TO EXPECT — STRUCTURE & SCHEDULE

We prioritize sustainable, high-quality care by structuring our clinical model to prevent burnout:

  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (No Fridays). Part-time roles (minimum 3 days) are available.
  • Patient Appointments: 90-minute intakes and 30-minute follow-ups.
  • Dedicated Admin Time: 90 minutes of protected time daily for documentation, refills, authorizations, and case management.
  • Location: This is an in person position, based at our Vancouver, WA clinic with options for telemedicine follow-ups for established patients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You hold a Master's or Doctorate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • You have an active, unrestricted APRN/ARNP license in Washington.
  • Active Oregon APRN license required prior to start date (we see Oregon patients via telemedicine)
  • You maintain an active DEA registration.
  • You are board-certified as a PMHNP through the ANCC or AANPCB.
  • You feel comfortable prescribing for pediatric patients (ages 4+) or are excited to grow in this area. We value this clinical focus and provide the mentorship and training you need to feel confident.
  • You share our heart for neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQIA+-affirming care, viewing these as the essential foundation of your clinical practice.

VALUED EXPERIENCE

  • While not required, we'd love to hear about any background you have working with children, adolescents, or neurodivergent populations.
  • It is helpful if you are familiar with evidence-based psychopharmacology across the lifespan, especially when managing complex comorbidities.
  • Experience with collaborative care or brief therapeutic interventions is always a plus in our team environment.
  • If you've practiced telepsychiatry before, that experience will translate well here.
  • Previous use of Valant or similar EHR systems can help you hit the ground running.
  • Bilingual skills are a wonderful asset that helps us better serve our community.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $140,000 – $187,000 annually (equivalent to $75 - $100 per hour), commensurate with experience and career level.

Benefits include:

  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • CME stipend with DEA registration and licensure support
  • Paid time off
  • 9 paid holidays per year
  • Unpaid time off available
  • 401k with employer match
  • Employer sponsored whole life insurance
  • EAP program available

This is a salaried exempt position. Compensation is tied to our PMHNP Career Levels framework, which provides a structured pathway for growth and advancement based on demonstrated clinical performance.
